"Boarding life at this school is enhanced by: encouragement for students to develop a good work ethic, life skills and become increasingly independent learners[and] opportunities to live alongside a cross-section of young women and develop skills required for good relationships."

ERO 2010

planNga Tawa Diocesan School is founded on Anglican Christian values and, as a result, a family atmosphere has been fostered and enjoyed over many years. Our holistic approach to education means that students are encouraged to achieve academically while growing physically and emotionally via extracurricular, community and leadership programmes. Parents and extended families are encouraged to participate in school life and are invited to a variety of calendar events; from Athletics and Swimming Sports to House Drama, House Music, Soirées, House Dinners, Chapel Services and other social occasions.

The Chapel of St. Leonard is at the heart of school life. It stands proudly inside the main gates leading to the oval driveway and reception area. Three times a week Chapel services reinforce Christian school values while providing an opportunity to showcase student art and talent.

Other dimensions of Nga Tawa's Special Character include Music, Equestrian and the Arts. Nga Tawa encourages its students to explore individual pursuits, to commit time and focus to their endeavours and to broaden their talents. The fine facilities and renowned programme within the school’s World Class Equestrian Academy attract over one third of enrolled students. In addition, the comprehensive Music and the Arts (visual and performing) programme offerings and supportive environment provide a wonderful platform for students to participate, grow in confidence and become actively engaged global citizens.
