Library and Technology Facilities
The Mary Taylor Library is a bright and modern facility located at the centre of all classrooms. The library provides students with a quiet space in which to:
- Access print and digital resources, both within the library and those far beyond school walls. A quality selection is maintained by qualified librarians to support classroom teaching, learning and recreational reading interests.
- Develop inquiry/research skills, learn how to evaluate resources, become ethical digital citizens and be able to create and share information using traditional and emerging media.
- Enjoy a user-friendly learning environment where they can develop an enthusiasm for knowledge, life-long learning and an appreciation of reading.
The library is open throughout the school day and is available for supervised Prep and weekend use.
Sporting Facilities
The Nga Tawa Events Centre was completed in 2001 and, in addition to housing the school’s Sports and PE Departments, provides a great arena for school events. The highly functional building features a fully outfitted fitness room with the latest equipment. It sis complimented by other sporting facilities including a soccer field, concrete swimming pool, full athletics track, astro-turf cricket pitch and grandstand capacity for 260.
Equestrian Academy
Nga Tawa’s Equestrian Academy boasts some of the finest facilities available in New Zealand. A 1200 metre, all-weather canter track was completed in 2004. There are also three all weather arenas, a cross-country course, 95 stables, plenty of parks available for floats, a parent reception area, an Equine Studies classroom (taught in the curriculum) and various other supporting buildings and common areas.
A wide range of experienced and highly qualified equestrian instructors work part-time at Nga Tawa. Disciplines catered for include Eventing, Showjumping, Games, Dressage and Cross Country. The school’s large horse truck transports horses to one day events and other competitions throughout the year.
