"The Board of Trustees and the Diocesan Board work in harmony to promote the best outcomes for students.  A comprehensive cycle of review effectively sets direction for continuous school improvement.  Using student achievement and information gathered through consultation with the community, they set sound strategic goals."

Nga Tawa’s sport and fitness programmes foster high participation and attract many talented students. With students participating in over 30 sports annually, the school endeavours to cater for all students, whether aiming for increased performance or healthy social interaction. All students are expected to participate in regular physical activity.

Sport and fitness inspires in students the value of teamwork, commitment, pride and striving for personal excellence. At Nga Tawa, students in Year 9 - Year 13 must be involved in a winter and summer sport. In addition to sport, Year 9 - 13 students also participate in after school personal fitness programmes. Programmes include circuit training and aerobics, and teach students the benefits of frequent physical activity while planting the seed for ongoing ‘healthy activity for life'.

Nga Tawa offers wonderful facilities including a large gymnasium and events centre, soccer and cricket fields, an athletics track, swimming pool, tennis courts and hockey field. Modern and fully outfitted fitness rooms provide students with current training equipment in order to reach personal fitness goals. Students may apply for the Sport Academy which aims to enhance excellence in sports performance through specialist coaching, monitoring of fitness programmes and nutrition.

Quality coaches are sourced for every sports code. Coaching fees and administrative costs are split between players and billed to home accounts at the end of every term, where applicable.
