Report provided by Ann Henderson (Head of Commerce, Coordinator Young Enterprise at Nga Tawa School)
Young Enterprise students have had an eventful fortnight. Last week we received the results of the Enterprise examination which was held in August. All fifteen students were successful and a special congratulations goes to Charlotte Legge who passed with Excellence. Only 5% of candidates in New Zealand gain an Excellence grade.
The Young Enterprise Regional Finals were held in Wanganui on Thursday, 30 October. Charlotte McAloon (URGE team) won the award for best sales person. Cable (eventcentral) were placed first in the Wanganui region. This resulted in the team (Charlotte Legge, Brooke Cox, Tui Williams, Stephanie Sanderson, Sally Manthel and Caroline Dekker) travelling to Wellington on Wednesday, 4 November to attend the national finals.
In Wellington, Cable won the Renaissance Award for Excellence in Innovation (ICT). The trip was a very worthwhile experience and gave the girls the opportunity to discuss their project with leaders in the business community. During the evening at the Gala Dinner, Brooke Cox and Charlotte Legge gave an impressive presentation based on their year's journey. This was very well received and it was a privilege to present to such an esteemed group of people. Other speakers included the Governor General, The Honorable Paula Bennett, Honorable Pita Sharples, Angus Fletcher, John Gallaher and Graham Prentice, General Manager of Renaissance Ltd who sponsored our award.
