Events / Sports Centre
The Events Centre was completed in 2001 and houses Nga Tawa’s Sports and PE Department. This building is also frequently utilised when social events or parent functions dictate. A fully outfitted fitness room with the latest equipment, a soccer field, concrete swimming pool, full athletics track, astro-turf cricket pitch and grandstand capacity for 260, are just some of sports facilities available.

Equestrian Academy
Nga Tawa’s Equestrian Academy boasts some of the finest facilities available in New Zealand. A 1200 metre, all weather canter track was completed in 2004. There are also two all weather arenas, 45 stables, plenty of parks available for floats, a parent reception area, an Equine Studies classroom (taught in the curriculum) and various other supporting buildings and common areas.

A wide range of experienced and highly qualified equestrian instructors work part time at Nga Tawa. Disciplines catered for include Eventing, Showjumping, Games, Dressage and Cross country. The school’s large horse truck transports horses to one day events and other competitions during Terms One and Four.

Classrooms
Nga Tawa’s classrooms are located in the middle of the campus and surround the school’s Library, with easy access to surrounding facilities. However, in addition to the Sports Centre, stand alone facilities include a very well equipped Art, Art History and Photography / Design Department, all in the McCall building. Senior art students have their own painting studio and there is also a student gallery – the McCall Gallery which hosts continuous displays of student artworks.

The Mary Taylor Library
The objectives of our modern, purpose-built library are:

  • to provide centralised access to resources, both in and beyond the school, that support teaching, learning and students’ recreational reading interests
  • to provide a variety of opportunities for students and staff to develop information skills using a wide range of resources, including information technologies
  • to create a user-friendly learning environment in which students develop an enthusiasm for information and an enjoyment of reading
  • to support the special character of the school

The library contains an extensive fiction collection and a wide range of up-to-date non-fiction and reference materials in both print and electronic formats. It is open during school hours and is available for supervised Prep and weekend use. A team of Student Librarians assist the library staff.
