Pastoral Care is integral to a Nga Tawa education.
It is the school's philosophy and responsibility that students and staff are treated with dignity and respect in a safe and secure environment. Caring and considerate behaviour is modelled and encouraged within the family atmosphere and Christian context.
Nga Tawa recognises and values the importance of pastoral care in developing young women to be outstanding members of society. The pastoral care team is lead by the Assistant Principal and includes the Guidance Counsellor, Nurse, Chaplain, Deans and Boarding Managers. The team focuses on the emotional, spiritual, psychological and physical (hauora) well being of students and offers support in these areas as required by students.
The pastoral care team runs a number of initiatives that support the emotional development/ leadership potential of young women. These include; the Cool Schools' Peer Mediation Programme, the Big Sister Programme, which supports the successful integration of Year 9's into the school and presentations by outside speakers throughout the year around successful relationships, tolerance, conflict resolution and leadership.
