Terms 1 and 4

Athletics:
A strong squad train Monday and Thursday with competition in Wanganui on Tuesday nights. A team is selected from the annual Nga Tawa Diocesan Athletic Championships to compete at both the Wanganui Secondary School Interschool Championships and Manawatu Secondary School Interschool Championships. Teams are also selected for the North Island and New Zealand Secondary School Championships.

Basketball:
This season basketball has continued through to the summer, with one team playing in the summer handicap league in Palmerston North on a Wednesday night. Trainings are held on Monday night with an increase to two court trainings and one fitness during the winter season.

Cricket:
Cricket is played Term 1 & 3 with Nga Tawa competing in an indoor competition along with an outdoor competition in Term 3. Trainings are Monday & Wednesdays with competition for both teams either Tuesday or Thursdays in Palmerston North. The squad this year had the luxury of gaining valuable skill training from some members of the White Ferns.

Life Saving:
Nga Tawa Diocesan School Lifesaving teams compete in the Wanganui Secondary Schools Lifesaving Championships.

Rowing:
The latest and newest sport to be introduced into Nga Tawa this year, with a committed squad training regularly on the Wanganui River with a focus on the North Island Championships & Maadi Cup

Softball:
Nga Tawa continues to field an enthusiastic squad which competes in the annual Quadrangular tournament as well as competitions in either Wanganui or Palmerston North.

Swimming:
3 levels of swimming are offered; fundamentals & intermediate are offered in Term 1 & 4, with the elite squad training in Wanganui all year. A swim team is selected from the Championships to compete at the Wanganui Secondary Schools Championships.

Tae Kwon Do:
Tae Kwon Do is held right through the terms with trainings being held on Monday & Thursday evenings under the watchful eye of a trained coach. All girls work towards stripes or belts.

Tennis:
Tennis is one of the popular sports at Nga Tawa with a large number of girls playing and/or receiving tennis coaching. Coaching is all year around, with the opportunity of private lessons on offer as well.
