Nga Tawa Chapel Project

Dearest Old Girls,

You will recognise this drawing as our beloved St. Leonard’s Chapel.

I, as you will, have many fond memories of this space. The smell, the way the light dances through the altar window, and, of course, the sounds of Bible readings, lessons, and prayers, carols, and hymns being said and sung for over one hundred years in this space. Wrapping up in our cloaks to keep out the cold and squeezing into the pews in houses.

I invite you and your family, your year group, your decade group, sacristans, or the choristers you were in the choir with, to join in the restoration of the Nga Tawa Chapel.

You will have the opportunity to sponsor a chapel pew from October 5th.

Join us to launch this initiative and enjoy some woodfired pizza. With your support, each pew will be restored and placed around Nga Tawa until the chapel itself is also restored and ready. As a thank you, your name will be engraved on a plaque on your pew, and you will receive a print of the Nga Tawa chapel to display in your home.

Join us by sponsoring a pew. Your generous donation of $12,000 each for the downstairs pews and $20,000 each for the four choir stall pews would be a huge contribution towards the renewal of our chapel.

Together, we can make a difference for those who follow.

Please contact me or Sally Patrick as soon as possible. The pews are few in number and we don't want you to miss out.

Penelope Roberts (Allen), daughter of Patricia Morris, niece of Susan Sykes (Allen) and Elizabeth Mackay (Allen), cousin of Maryanne Bell (Salisbury) and Julia Christie (Allen).
