Our Performing Arts department includes Speech and Drama and Dance, with opportunities for girls to explore their interests, develop their skills and build confidence through performance. Girls are encouraged to take part in the areas of Performing Arts that interest them, with a range of opportunities available throughout their time at Nga Tawa.
We have a dedicated Speech and Drama itinerant teacher who works with girls towards their New Zealand Speech Board examinations. Students regularly achieve excellent results, with many going on to complete Associated Trinity College of London diplomas in their final year.
Dance is also a popular part of Performing Arts at Nga Tawa. Many of our girls take lessons with local dance teachers, and we also facilitate on-site lessons in additional styles such as hip hop.
Girls have regular opportunities to perform and showcase their talents through events such as Showquest and our major school productions, which provide valuable experience both on and behind the stage.
One of the highlights of the Performing Arts calendar is our regular soirees, which give girls the opportunity to share their talents with an audience while providing the local community with an enjoyable evening of entertainment.
