Nga Tawa Diocesan School was founded in 1891 on a principle of empowering girls to achieve extraordinary outcomes in their lives beyond school.
The teenage years are a vital time in girls’ lives because this is when their unique identities begin to emerge. As an all-girls school, Nga Tawa offers a culture and environment in which girls can be girls, grow up at their own pace, and have the freedom to be who they want to be.
Being a small school is one of our great strengths because it allows us to know/guide each of our girls well as they make the transformation into young adults.
Small class sizes mean students can develop strong relationships with teachers and teachers can be more responsive to the needs of individuals. With a 100% NCEA pass rate across the board in 2016 and 2017, we believe our academic results speak for themselves. In 2018 the Education Review Office described Nga Tawa as "highly successful in achieving equitable and excellent outcomes for all students."
