Sport and Outdoor Education

2023 SCHOOL IN ACTION DAY
Friday 4 August, 10am

Nga Tawa actively promotes the benefit of sport and fitness in the lives of our students. We strongly believe positive, active involvement in sport can significantly improve the health, well being and holistic development of students of all ages and abilities, throughout their school years.

While we wish to give students the opportunities to be the best they possibly can at sport, we also encourage them to be ‘fit for life’. When they leave school, we hope that they will voluntarily choose to be involved in some form of physical activity for life.

In 2018, Nga Tawa introduced an Outdoor Education programme to our curriculum. We offer this course in Years 12 and 13, in conjunction with our Outdoor Education partner, TOPEC. Our programme runs from Terms 1-3 and girls can choose to take part in modules that interest them, additional to their academic study. The programme builds resilience, encourages teamwork and development of new skills whilst introducing them to amazing experiences in the outdoors environment that is right at our doorstep.
